“Alexis broke her leg and was unable to attend school for an extended period. She enrolled in 4 Advanced Placement courses and 1 Honors course at the North Carolina Virtual Public School. Alexis’ mother says that the opportunity for Alexis to continue AP and Honors courses online was the only way that she could have successfully kept up with and completed her coursework. This semester Alexis was named a 2008 Morehead Scholar.”
