NCVPS INSTRUCTOR SELECTED TO ATTEND
INTERNATIONAL TEACHER PROGRAM

Deb Ramey teaches e-Commerce I at NCVPS and recently was asked to be a part of a national delegation of 36 teachers to attend the Toyota International Teacher Program in Costa Rica from February 24-March 8, 2008.

"Program participants will travel along the Caribbean slope of Costa Rica, meeting and talking with community leaders, observing students and teachers, and working with scientists to learn how Costa Ricans are balancing community development and environmental conservation. They will see how innovative strategies are being implemented in the areas of development, agronomy, conservation and education. Selected teachers will also experience first-hand the majestic rainforest while making personal connections with the people who live and work there."

Deb is very excited about studying the education, culture, ecotourism, and biodiversity of Cost Rica. She will be logging in each day and facilitating learning with her students and providing a real world experience via a virtual field trip as she shares a blog with her students. In addition to sharing this experience with her students, Deb posted the blog information and trip itinerary for her NCVPS colleagues and encourages them to use it in their courses.
